The MSME is a vital component for growth and development of any country besides being the biggest job provider, said MP R K Jena while addressing the inaugural function of the Pallishree cum Expo of the district here.
Jena said the micro, small and medium industries contributes 40 per cent to the export sector. The state government by way of the new industrial policy and MSME policy is striving to give a fillip to the sector and targeting at job opportunities to three lakh people by 2019,he claimed.
Jena said efforts are on for the formation of two clusters - bamboo and coir clusters at Betnoti and Baliapal respectively.
“For Bamboo cluster establishment while lot many progress has taken place , for coir board the process is on. These clusters will boost the local people, growers, artisans which would contribute for their socio- economic development, he said.
Minister Jogendra Behera said the Expo cum pallishree mela provides a platform for buyers and sellers. Several local industries have taken part in the fair. This was an unique opportunity to tap the potential of the district and to exchange technical, production and marketing knowledge etc.
The Expo which began on Friday will continue till Tuesday.
As many 500 stalls have been put up by different organizations, including DRDO units.
“The stalls, visitors and the business have been very good and encouraging this year too,” said Himansu Das, a member of the Expo committee.
