AAI decides to give NOCs to buildings upto 50 floors in Navi Mumbai

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has agreed to give NOCs (No Objection Certificates) to buildings taller upto 160.10 metres (upto 50 floors) in Navi Mumbai. In 2018, building heights were restricted to 16 floors for construction of Airport Surveillance Radar 1 (ASR-1) in Navi Mumbai. The decision comes after AAI decided to shift location of ASR-1 to Dhakale Island.

 


Madras High Court allows Tamil Nadu woman to marry US man virtually

The Madras High Court has allowed the virtual wedding of a Tamil Nadu woman with an American man of Indian origin through virtual mode. The woman petitioner had sought a direction to the Sub-Registrar, Kanniyakumari to solemnise her marriage with the man through video conference. The court directed that the wedding be solemnised in presence of three witnesses.


India can get own Elon Musk if ISRO challenges are overcome: ISRO chief

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief S Somanath said that India can get its own Elon Musk if certain limitations and challenges of the organisation are overcome. Stating that ISRO isn't a business-centric organisation, he said that while there is knowledge of product development, they don't know how to make money. He added that application-centric space startups are needed.

Swiss will match EU sanctions if China invades Taiwan: SECO chief

Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) chief Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch in an interview said that she "strongly" believes that the country would adopt sanctions imposed by the EU against China if it invades Taiwan. "However, sanctions in...case of China would be far more drastic (than those against Russia) because...economic relations are much more important," she added.

What will happen if taxpayers miss ITR filing deadline today?

The deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) for FY22 is today (July 31). Taxpayers with over ₹5 lakh annual income who miss it may file ITRs after paying late fees of up to ₹5,000 by December 31, 2022. If the ITR is filed after December but before March 2023, the late fee will increase to up to ₹10,000.


Bihar to offer ₹10 lakh interest-free seed fund under startup policy

Bihar's Minister of Industries Syed Shahnawaz Hussain has launched the Bihar Startup Policy, which aims to encourage entrepreneurship in the state. Under this policy, the state government will grant ₹10 lakh each to startups for a period of 10 years as an interest-free seed fund. An additional ₹3 lakh will be granted to the startups for product development and training.


Over 53 lakh Income Tax Returns filed today as govt refuses to extend deadline

Over 53 lakh Income Tax Returns (ITRs) were filed till 8 pm today as there was no indication about the extension of the July 31 deadline from the government. The Income Tax Department tweeted at 8.45 pm that 4,95,505 ITRs were filed in the past hour. This is the first time in three years that the deadline hasn't been extended.


5G rollout expected to start in October: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said the rollout of 5G spectrum is expected to start in October and within a year or two, it should have significant presence in India. "We have already told industry that they should act fast after allocation in order to...roll out services soon...The 5G spectrum auction is doing well," he added.


Agri Infra Fund to aid SMBs in getting loans to buy startup drones

The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) backed by the government of India will facilitate loans to small and medium businesses and individuals to buy agri-drones. The drones will be the Kisan Drones built by startup Garuda Aerospace. A single loan can be up to ₹10 lakh with 5% interest depending on the drones and accessories purchased.


8 of top 10 most valued firms added ₹1.91 lakh crore in m-cap last week

Eight of the top 10 most valued firms added ₹1,91,622.95 crore to their market valuation last week. While Bajaj Finance’s m-cap surged by ₹57,673.19 crore to ₹4,36,447.88 crore, TCS jumped by ₹47,494.49 crore to ₹12,07,779.68 crore. HDFC Bank, Infosys and SBI were among the other gainers. LIC's valuation declined by ₹7,020.75 crore to ₹4,28,739.97 crore.

Achinta Sheuli lifts record 313 kg, wins India's 3rd gold medal at CWG 2022

Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli bagged India's third gold at CWG 2022 after lifting a total of 313 kg in men's 73-kg category. With this, the 20-year-old set a new Commonwealth Games record. He lifted 143 kg in snatch event and 170 kg in clean and jerk event. All of India's six medals at CWG 2022 so far have come from weightlifting.


India record their biggest victory in men's hockey in Commonwealth Games history

India on Sunday opened their campaign in men's hockey at Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 with an 11-0 victory against Ghana in a Pool B match. It is India's biggest victory in the history of Commonwealth Games. Harmanpreet Singh scored a hat-trick in the match, while Jugraj Singh scored a brace.
