EEE candidate query - Why banking after engineering -- suggested reply --

PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND KNOWN CIRCLES AND HELP THEM.  BEST WISHES

An email from an electrical engineering graduate appearing for RRB interview and my reply.   I am  posting here because I find a number of engineering graduates and post graduates have this query in their mind.

Also nowadays nearly 40% of clerical entrants are engineers and 60% officer entrants are engineers and in spite of this interview panel members embarrass the interviewees by raising this question in the interview and some candidates get find it difficult to answer with confidence.

In the interview talk with confidence and do not tell just because you read somewhere or some other person like me guided you.  You must be committed to what you say.

MY REPLY

In my view you can tell what has happened -- trying for a core job in Bangalore and since payment was not properly made worked in real estate company.  Here again though the strain was more salary was low.

I wanted to work in banks because they offer good service conditions.  Career prospects are also good.  I enjoy being of service to people.  I want to take banking as my career since in my core field there are no sufficient job prospects.  Further nowadays many engineers join banks as clerks and officers.

I preferred RRB because it gives much more job satisfaction in that one may be serving inside the State and can identify himself with the local people and be of service to them.

I possess the requisite qualification and interest and am sure I will be of use largely in banks--I will discharge the assignments given to me and also take up extra initiative to learn new work and help branch management in canvassing of deposits and recovery of loans etc.
